CSI offers permanent and tenure memberships for eligible serving and retired officers. Admission is at the discretion of the Governing Board.
Eligible serving and retired All India Services officers of the Uttarakhand cadre; eligible State Civil Services officers of selection grade and above, subject to Governing Board approval.
For officers eligible under the permanent membership categories.
15 years. All India Services officers of other cadres, Central Civil Services Group A officers and other eligible Central Government officers in Pay Band 4 (Grade Pay ₹8,700) and above.
5 years. For eligible officers in the tenure membership categories, subject to Governing Board approval.

CSI’s published rules extend benefits to spouses, eligible dependent children, parents of members and parents of spouses. A son or daughter is treated as a dependent until age 21, after which Governing Board rules apply. Dependent membership ends with the parent’s membership.
Spouses, eligible dependent children above 14 and eligible parents may be issued family cards. Please carry the card and show it when requested by institute staff.
Permanent memberships are stated to activate within seven days of receiving the application and payment. Tenure applicants should pay only after Governing Board approval; activation then takes up to seven days. Physical cards may take up to a month.
Members must follow Governing Board rules and clear their dues. CSI’s published conditions allow suspension or termination following the Board’s process, including for unpaid dues or rule violations. Membership may also end through resignation or death. Refer to the original membership rules for the full conditions.
